Stanton is the owner and hotelier of the Sleepy Pilgrims Motel in Marcel’s Crossing. He is self-admittedly prejudiced against followers of The Trawler-man.

As a Human[]
Stanton is described as having a shock of white hair.[1]
As a Saint[]
He had black-button eyes on stalks, a tendrilled mouth with some sensory capabilities, and emitted pungent black ink. Shrunken human arms hung from his carapaced chest. He's described as having elements of prawns, crawfish and crabs. In terms of vocalising, all we hear are slithers, and a shriek when wounded.
Within the basement, he used the ink to inscribe patterns (much like Abel as the Larva Saint), but appeared to be driven more by crab-like concerns, being lured out of the basement with maggot-bait.[2]

Stanton says he knew they were false-faith worshippers the moment they walked in, and that he went through their rooms while they were out and found their prayer marks.He admits that he is prejudiced against the Trawler-man and his disciples. Stanton asks to speak to Carpenter, assuming she's in charge. Faulkner asks him if there are any other of their faith out here, Stanton mentions Roake. Faulkner turns Stanton into a Saint. |
| Chapter 6: It Winds, It Worms, It Wends | Hayward finds the Sainted hotelier. Stanton does not notice Hayward's arrival but states that he thinks he is afradi because he does not understand. Stanton scratches the prayer marks into the hotel walls. |
| Chapter 9: My Song Has Taken Hold Of Me | Hayward takes Stanton out on the river. He tells him not to worry about the hotel. Stanton does not respond to him. Hayward gets rid of the Saint. |
